Cecilia Martinez-Gallardo, Associate Professor of Political Science, received her B.A. from the Institutio Tecnologico Autonomo de Mexico (ITAM) in Mexico City (1995), and both an MA and a Ph.D. from Columbia University (2005). Before joining UNC, Cecilia taught at CIDE in Mexico. Cecilia’s teaching and research interest are in Latin American political institutions, especially government formation and change. Her work focuses on the political and institutional factors that affect coalition politics in these countries. She has also worked on government formation and stability in Western Europe and as well as policy reform in Latin America. She has recently contributed articles to the American Journal of Political Science and the American Political Science Review.
